Coach Development Program
Background
The aim of the Activate Coach Development Program is to enhance the skills of team coaches in clubs and schools to ensure players have an enhanced experience, both in terms of enjoyment and cricketing skills learnt.
The Program
Program is 3 x 2 hour sessions revolving around coach education of the key coaching points:
> 1 hour batting
> 1 hour bowling
> 1 hour fielding
> 1 hour drills and games
> 1 team practice session
> 1 hour practical and questions
Objectives
The objective of the program is to ensure coaches have an array of drills and activities so children have fun while learning, keeping everyone active . Coaches will be taught to stay focused on the key teaching and learning points of each discipline so that both coach and player are stimulated and having fun.
At the completion of the program coaches will be able to run fun effective training sessions that, whilst very active, are game and skill related. Coaches will have a range of acitivites that will allow them to make each session a little different whilst again effectively promoting the key teaching elements.
Instructor
The instructor for the Coach Development Sessions will be Neil D'Costa. Neil has been involved in cricket coaching for over a decade guiding many young players from Junior through to First Class Cricket. Best known for his work with Australian player Michael Clarke Neil also has the impressive record of currently having a player in every agegroup of the NSW Cricket Representative program (including NSW Blues, NSW Under 19’s, NSW Under 17’s, All Emerging Blues Squads)
Equipment Required
Coaching instructors from the centre will use all your school equipment and facilities and wet weather alternative is preferable so no need to cancel.
